The Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant, also known as Shuqaiq Three, is situated on the coast of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia and stands as one of the largest reverse osmosis desalination plants globally. With a nominal production capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day—equivalent to 180 Olympic-size swimming pools—this desalination plant plays a crucial role in supplying water to the population as well as supporting agricultural and industrial activities in the provinces of Asir and Jizan, which together are home to nearly 4 million people. More than 2,000 individuals contributed to the construction of the Shuqaiq 3 facility, and upon its completion, a significant milestone in industrial health and safety was achieved, with over nine million hours logged without any incidents or work-related casualties, showcasing the effectiveness of the S3OM approach in water treatment.
